ESPN 980

Red Zebra Broadcasting is based in Silver Spring, MD and currently operates thirteen radio stations. Bruce Gilbert, former general manager of ESPN Radio, was named chief executive officer of Red Zebra in March 2007.

Red Zebra Broadcasting’s original three Washington DC stations went on the air in July 2006 as a sports radio simulcast. Since then the company has expanded in Washington, DC and gained ownership of stations in Richmond and Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA.

WTEM, WWXX and WWXT make up ESPN 980. ESPN 980 is the Flagship radio station for Washington Redskins Play-by-Play with Larry Michael, Rick “Doc” Walker and Hall of Famers Sonny Jugensen and Sam Huff. The Washington Redskins broadcasts are heard on over 30 affiliated radio stations throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.
 
ESPN 980 is also the exclusive home of the Play-by-Play broadcasts for the Washington Wizards, Georgetown Hoyas Basketball, Virginia Tech Football & Basketball, University of Virginia Football, George Mason Basketball, MLB and World Series, NBA and NBA Finals, NFL and Super Bowl, NCAA Football and BCS and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
 
Dan Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins, is the principle investor in Red Zebra Broadcasting.
